Attack on Prosecutor’s House

Published onsdag 21 november 2007 kl 11.43

Swedish Justice Minister Beatrice Ask is in Gothenburg to meet police officials, following a bomb attack outside the home of a prosecutor Tuesday.

The explosive blew off the door of the house, but no one was injured. The prosecutor, who has been investigating crimes by motorcycle gangs, says she will continue to work as usual.

The attack came a week after three police helicopters were shot at while on the ground in Gothenburg. Justice Minister Ask says what is needed now are more police on the streets, better intelligence, and increased cooperation among agencies.

Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt says attacks such as those against the prosecutor are a threat to democracy.
