Cleaning Companies’ Discrimination
Six out of ten Swedish cleaning companies have indicated they would discriminate against employees with a foreign background.
Swedish Radio’s local news departments contacted 89 cleaning firms around the country, pretending to represent companies that needed their services.
In each case they asked the cleaning company not to send immigrants as cleaners.
Fifty-two agreed, six answered ambiguously, and just 31 refused to comply with what would have been illegal discrimination.
Several of the companies said such requests were not unusual.
