Mahmoud Abbas, George Bush, and Ehud Olmert in Annapolis

Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt has welcomed the agreement by Israeli and Palestinian leaders to resume peace negotiations.

Bildt represented Sweden at Tuesday’s international conference in Annapolis, Maryland.

The Swedish foreign minister says the agreement goes beyond expectations. He tells Swedish Radio News that many major issues remain, but the intention to reach an agreement by the end of next year is more than many had hoped for.
