Swedes Stay in Church

Published fredag 30 november 2007 kl 10.58

Swedes are finding their way back to church.

For the third year in a row, the number of people leaving the Church of Sweden has levelled off. The question of gay marriages is expected to be a deciding factor for many in whether or not they want to be part of their congregation.

Church of Sweden information officer Ingrid Andersson, says there’s a promising trend when it comes to people who decide to stay in the church, especially in large cities.

Meanwhile the number of people turning to the Church for christenings, confirmations, marriages and funerals has dropped in the past 10 years.
