Family Murderer to Receive Parole
After serving 19 years in prison, a Finn convicted for the brutal murder of three Swedes has received parole.
Juha Valjakkala killed a father and mother and their 15 year old son in 1988 in the northern Swedish town of Åmsele.
He has been serving a life sentence in Finland, where an appeals court has granted him parole. He is to be released in July, but will remain under what is termed “electronic surveillance”.
Swedish director Jan Troell’s film “Il Capitano” is about the Åmsele murders.
