Channel 5 Stops Children’s Ads

Published onsdag 5 december 2007 kl 12.59

Sweden’s Channel 5 will stop broadcasting advertisements aimed at children by the end of this year.

The decision was made in accordance with the channel’s shift in target age group, says news agency TT. The number of children’s programmes have already been cut back with the channel concentrating on the 15- to 44-year-old age group.

Channel 5 has been criticised in the past for broadcasting from the UK due to the more relaxed advertising laws. Adverts directed at children are not permitted on channels broadcasting from Sweden.
