Salem Rally Cost One Million Dollars

Published måndag 10 december 2007 kl 10.30

Two demonstrations of extremists of the far right and the far left have cost the community of Salem nearly one million dollars.

500 policemen were in action, trying to keep the two rallies apart. In contrast to previous years, the demonstrations were carried out without major incidents, as a police spokesman told the press afterwards.

Right-wing extremists traditionally rally in December commemorating the killing of a Swedish boy by another boy with immigrant background in Salem a few years ago. Left groups traditionally organize demonstrations opposed to the right-wing rally.
