Vasaloppet May Be Closed
The International Ski Federation is discussing new proposed temperature limits to be placed on competitions.
The new rule would mean that the race would be cancelled if temperatures fell below minus 16 degress Celcius. The current limit is minus 25.
According to Rolf Hammar who is the secretary-general for the Vasaloppet, Sweden’s most famous cross-country skiing competition, this would mean that nearly every other race would have to be cancelled.
In an interview with the local Mora Newspaper, he went on further to say they he thought that this would not only affect the individual cross country race, but also the entire skiing industry in general.
