New Drug for Premature Babies

Published torsdag 13 december 2007 kl 12.11

A Swedish hospital has discovered a protein based drug that helps prevent concentration and learning difficulties amongst prematurely born babies.

The researchers have shown that a protein found in breast milk improves the baby’s ability to absorb fat that is important for the baby’s brains development.

Premature babies often have difficulties absorbing the protein, and the new drug would ensure that they got enough.
