Interest Rate Unchanged

Sweden's central bank

Sweden’s central bank holds its most important interest rate, the “repo” rate, unchanged at four percent.

As the executive board of the bank announced, the present economic development does not differ significantly from the one in October.

However, the bank expects it will have to raise its key interest rate to around 4.25 percent during the first half of 2008 – conceding there was considerable uncertainty due to the turmoil in the international financial markets and the domestic economy slowing down more than expected.
