Volkswagen Takes Over Scania

Published måndag 3 mars 2008 kl 10.59

The Swedish financial group Investor is to sell all of its shares in truck manufacturer Scania to German Volkswagen, meaning the German carmaker will now own 68 percent of the voting rights in the company, and 38 percent of the shares.

In a statement Volkswagen says that it will not make any changes that will adversely affect the employees of the company, based in the town of Södertälje, south of Stockholm.

Volkswagen is also the leading shareholder in German MAN, which tried to take over Scania in 2006.
