Could Wine Prevent Dementia?
Some substances in wine could protect women from dementia according to a new study among Swedish women.
The study, which started back in 1968, followed the lives of over 1500 women aged between 38 and 60 years. 162 of those developed dementia during the study, and researchers found that women that drank wine, rather than beer or spirits, ran less of a risk of developing the illness. But they won’t go as far as recommending women to drink wine to prevent dementia, saying that there could be other factors involved. They are also unsure what it is in the wine that could have the effect, but suggest it might be the antioxidants.
