Train Becomes More Attractive
Travelling by train becomes more and more attractive in Sweden.
According to figures by the Swedish Railroad Administration, 171 million passenger tickets were sold in the previous year – a rise by 12 million compared to the year before.
Even the transportation of cargo is on the up. In 2007, some 68 million tons of goods were transported by Swedish trains.
Speaking to Swedish Radio news, a representative of the Swedish Railroad Administration explained the increased figures with the growing demand for environmental-friendly journeys and the improved rail infrastructure in this country.
