19th Century Sailing Ship Back in Stockholm

After 17 months of refurbishing, one of Stockholm’s most famous tourist attractions is back in place. The youth hostel boat ”af Chapman” was welcomed home by a cheering crowd and with canon salutes on the island of Skeppsholmen, right in the heart of the Swedish capital.

With 17 million dollars the renovation cost much more than expected, but municipality sees the money as an investment in the city’s flourishing tourism.

RS’s Alexander Hirschfelder greeted the 120-year- old ship floated back into Stockholm harbor:
