Young Ex-Criminals Too Long on Police Registration?

Published fredag 2 maj 2008 kl 11.49
Inte straffbart att fly.

Some critics here in Sweden are demanding a change in the 10-year police registration of young criminals in Sweden - making it difficult for those who have completed jail sentences or  periods of unpaid social work to get jobs afterwards.

Studies show that an increasing number of would-be employers are checking out the backgrounds of those  applying for jobs - rejecting those registered with the police.

Some suggestions say that the average period of registration for young offenders should be 5 years - with the 10-year period saved for those who have committed really serious crimes.
