Swedish Restaurants to get "No Allergy" Approval
People living here in Sweden with allergies are to get guarantees with a visible certificate that restaurants and café personnel will provide them with safe food.
Both the Swedish association for people with asthma and allergies and the union of hotel and restaurant workers are to help train restaurant personnel and eventually give the establishment a stamp of approval.
The association says many of its members are afraid to eat out because of the risk of getting served the wrong food - or meeting arrogant personal who react angrily when asked about the ingredients in the food.
Some restaurant owners here are reacting positively to the idea - saying they’ve had bad experience with customers getting very ill or having difficulties in breathing when served the wrong food triggering an allergy attack.
