Split Swedish Reaction to UN Criticism Over Afghan Refugees
There has been a mixed reaction to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees appeal to Sweden not to send Afghan refugees to Kabul if they have no family there to help them survive.
Some migration authorities say they will take this into consideration in judging 5 cases of men coming from Afghan provinces considered too dangerous to receive refugees.
However, the conservative moderate head of the Swedish parliaments social welfare committee says he supports the decision to send people to Kabul if fighting is still going on in their home province.
Swedish Radio news reported on one such Afghan refugee returned to Kabul 5 months ago - unable to find work and living on private donations from Swedish embassy staff.
