Medal Hope Susanna Kallur Falls

Susanna Kallur - seconds after her fall in the 100m hurdles semi-final

Susanna Kallur, one of Sweden’s major medal hopes at the Beijing Olympics, has been eliminated from the games.

Competing in the 100m hurdles semi-final, Kallur stumbled on the first hurdle and fell. Speaking to Swedish Radio afterwards, Kallur estimated that her accident might have to do with the fact that she had too little practise – Kallur merely took part in a few competitions this year.

The Swedish Olympic squad has snatched three silver medals at the Beijing games so far. Tennis players Simon Aspelin and Thomas Johansson lost the men’s double final against Roger Federer and Stanislaw Wawrinka from Switzerland by 1-3 sets.
