Do Swedish Teachers Know Too Little?

Published fredag 22 augusti 2008 kl 10.14

According to a study carried out by the Living History Forum in Stockholm, the vast majority of Swedish teachers don’t know the difference between a Soviet Gulag and a Nazi concentration camp.

The question now is: are Sweden’s history teachers really so ignorant of major events of the previous century or just what could be the explanation of this lacking knowledge? Critics claim that the teachers were basically supposed to answer irrelevant and too detailed questions. Eskil Franck, head of the Living History Forum, comments on the outcome of the survey.
