Government Targets Vocational Training
The Swedish government is investing 1.8 billion kronor in the country’s vocational training programme.
The money, the equivalent of 278 million US dollars, will go to adult educational programmes, called Komvux, as well providing extra places for vocational training at upper-secondary school level.
Education Minister Jan Björklund said that Sweden had focused too long on only Academic training and had not provided enough opportunities for those who wanted to be a construction worker or nursing assistant.
The money will be spread over three years.
