Financial Lift for Psychiatric Hospitals

Published torsdag 4 september 2008 kl 13.00

Sweden’s centre-right coalition government announced Thursday to give a financial boost to psychiatric hospitals.

In the coming three years, mental institutions and other fields of psychiatric care will see their budgets increased by a total of $US 400 million. Patients are supposed to receive meaningful activities and the personnel should get more advanced education.

The increased psychiatric budget was one of the coalition’s major promises during the election campaign in 2006.
