The Swedish film ’Everlasting Moments’ has been nominated for one of the movie world’s top awards - a Golden Globe.

Director Jan Troell is competing in the Best Foreign Film category, which he won once in 1973.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association awards Goldes Globes every year, and winning one is often seen as a step towards getting an Oscar.

The Swedish film is called in Swedish ’Maria Larssons eviga ögonblick’.

It’s the story of a woman in early twentieth century Sweden who uses her discovery of photography to develop her artistic awareness in contrast to the poverty of her everyday life.

It is competing against other non-US films including the Italian Maffia film Gomorrah and The Baader-Meinhof Complex from Germany.
