Swedish-Finnish Study

Old Medicine in New Form Combats Breast Cancer

Published måndag 15 december 2008 kl 11.11

Swedish-Finnish medical research maintains some new and sensational progress has been made in treating breast cancer with a 50-year-old drug - cytostatika.

Up to now, the medicine could only be injected - but in a new tablet form, higher dozes can be administered and the doctors say that have 34% decrease in the return of breast cancer.

The studies have been going on for the last 3 years – involving some 300 women in different Swedish cities and 1,200 women in Finland.

Reports conclude that the studies are not the result of the pharmaceutical industry but an initiative of the doctors themselves - and that driving interest has been not been for making company profits but for benefiting the patients.
