Xmas Appeal for Jailed Journalist

Published tisdag 23 december 2008 kl 10.01
Dawit Isaak has been in prison since 2001

Eritrean-Swedish journalist Dawit Isaak is in his eighth year of captivity in the Eritrean capital of Asmara.

Poets, musicians and authors have joined Sweden’s journalists in signing a Christmas appeal to the government.

In tabloid Expressen they say that Sweden must do more to free Isaak.

Author Marcus Birro, who drafted the appeal, says that Swedish negotiators are more interested in playing diplomatic games than in actually getting results from the Eritrean government
