Is there Life Beyond Meatballs?

Published måndag 5 januari 2009 kl 11.48
Will Sweden's fermented herring be attracting foodies from around the world

The Swedish government is hoping that an investment of 10 million US dollars will help make Sweden one of Europe’s big names when it comes to food.

Agriculture Minister Eskil Erlandsson says that Sweden’s excellent fruit and vegetables and strong cooking know-how put this country in a good position.

Benefits that this project could bring are an increase in food tourism and in exports of food.

Most of the proposed money will come from the Agriculture Ministry, with the rest sought from company donations.
