Liberals Want the Euro

The Swedish Liberals want to renew the campaign for establishing the euro as the country’s currency instead of the crown. Liberal party leader Jan Björklund presented this proposal as one of the main points of his party’s platform for the upcoming European Parliament elections.

Björklund said that Sweden needed a closer contact with the European Union. He said that both the largest coalition partner, the Conservatives, and the Social Democratic opposition did not meet this demand.

Björklund added that his party’s campaign for the introduction of the euro was an important step in this direction.
