Right Wing Extremists Use Swedish Churches

Published torsdag 22 januari 2009 kl 11.14

The Lutheran Church of Sweden has let right wing extremists use their churches on more than one occasion. Investigative journalism programme Uppdrag Granskning has uncovered that the Brotherhood S:t Pius X (SSPX) have been able to hold mass and perform confirmations in among other places the distinguished Saint Birgitta’s church in Vadstena.

S:t Pius X is an ultraconservative catholic group, so extreme in their beliefs that the Pope issued a ban against them in the 1980’s. Uppdrag Granskning reveals that the heads of the Swedish branch can be connected to right wing extremist groups. Among other things members of the brotherhood have said that the holocaust never happened.

Spokesmen for the Church of Sweden are now saying that they weren’t aware of who they were dealing with and blame it on their own naivety.

The Brotherhood S:t Pius X  have been present in Sweden for about 10 years. Their goal is to bring back the catholic faith to Sweden, according to Swedish News Agency TT
