Girl Disappears as Expulsion Looms

Published torsdag 22 januari 2009 kl 14.28

The 17 year old who was facing expulsion to Croatia has disappeared and is sought by the police.  Late last night it was decided that she will not be allowed to appeal her case. She now faces being sent back to Croatia with the dad that used to beat her.

The girl, who is born in Sweden, has been looked after by the social services since her father was served a prison sentence when authorities found out he was beating his children.  When the case was tried for the first time in 2007, the girl won her case, only to loose it when the Board of Migration appealed. Despite criticism from the media, local authorities, and the public, the decision was made not to let her appeal her further.

The police are now investigating her whereabouts, and if found, a new date will be set for her expulsion, according to Swedish Radio News.
