Olofsson in Favour of Nuclear Power

Published tisdag 3 februari 2009 kl 11.06
Maud Olofsson

The leader of the Centre Party, Maud Olofsson, has changed her mind regarding nuclear power.  The government parties are negotiating a settlement on energy and climate politics and Olofsson, who has long been recommending a phase-out, is now openly in favour of building new power plants to replace the old.

However, Olofsson stresses that the Centre Party is still striving to be the green alternative among the government parties. The idea is that by building new plants, it will be possible to ensure a higher level of safety. It would also seem that Olofsson is prepared to vote in favour of nuclear power, if the government is willing to put more effort into the use of solar, wind and water power, according to Swedish Radio News.
