The Health of Swedish Children Threatened

Published tisdag 3 februari 2009 kl 12.21

The health of Swedish children is in jeopardy due to bad co-operation and flaws within the School Health System. This warning comes from a study carried out by the Swedish Medical Association, the Swedish Dental Association and the Swedish Association of Health Professionals.

Out of 1500 local doctors, school nurses and dentists, 94 % believed that healthcare for children needs to be coordinated better between them. Only 29 % felt that they were given the resources and the support needed by local authorities to work towards a better health for the children.

The worst hazard for Swedish schoolchildren today is an unhealthy lifestyle resulting in issues of overweight and obesity, according to the report.
