Swedes Positive to Free Needles

Published tisdag 10 februari 2009 kl 18.14

Six out of ten Swedes think addicts should have the right to free needles in order to stop the spread of HIV and Hepatitis.

A new poll, carried out by market research company Novus Opinion and ordered by the Swedish Users’ Union, has shown that 57 % of the participants were in favour of  the suggestion.

32 % were against. The majority of those positive to such a scheme were women and people living in the larger cities.

The research was carried out at the end of last year and 1000 Swedes between the ages 18 and 74, spread across the country, took part.
