Swedes Face Austria Without Zlatan

Sweden’s footballers take on Austria in a friendly on Wednesday evening in preparation for next month’s vital World Cup qualifier against Portugal.

The Swede’s will be without the world’s best paid footballer, striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic in Graz. Coach Lars Lagerbäck decided not to include the striker because he’s suspended for the qualifier away to Portugal.

Instead Lagerbäck will use the match to give an opportunity to 20 year Rasmus Elm to stake a claim for a place in starting eleven in Porto.

After three matches of World Cup qualifying, Sweden have  five points from nine.
Although just one place off the bottom, the Swedes have played a game less than the sides around them and a win  against Portugal would take them top of the group.
