IFPI Site Hacked During File-sharing Trial

In the middle of the trial against the Swedish file-sharing site the Pirate Bay, someone has hacked the website of the music industry organization IFPI.

The Pirate Bay defendants say the hack was, their words, ”really stupid”, and can only hurt their cause.

It was on Wednesday night that someone calling themselves the new generation hacked into the IFPI site, added a text criticising the prosecutor in the case, and calling their attack a “declaration of war against the anti-pirate industry”.

In his blog commenting on the trial, Pirate Bay defendant Peter Sunde says, under the headline “we’re winning stop hacking plz”, the attack can only hurt their case.

On Tuesday the prosecutor softened the charges against the four defendants, who are accused of encouraging people to download copyrighted material by providing what is the world’s most popular file-sharing site.
