IFPI Head Alleges Massive Damage
Half way through the trial against the Pirate Bay file-sharing website, a top music industry official has told the court online piracy has caused “immense damage” to artists and producers.
John Kennedy, head of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, says illegal downloading of music has lead to a 30 percent drop in revenue for the music industry since 2001.
He testified Wednesday on behalf of nearly a dozen record companies, who are seeking more than 13 million dollars in damages from the Pirate Bay.
Four Swedes connected to the site are accused of helping users worldwide download copyright protected works.
