Results Differ in Swedish Schools

Published torsdag 26 februari 2009 kl 14.25

Schools in big city areas show such large discrepancies in results that a board of accident investigation is needed to deal with the problem. This demand comes from Föräldraalliansen - a countrywide organisation for parents with children in school.

At the moment in some areas of Stockholm only a few percent of pupils fail the core subjects. In other areas this number rises to 30-40 %. And this has been the case for several years. Therefore, on a local level, the parents have started to get involved and are demanding action from the government. The need for a board of accident investigation – just like after an airplane crash – shows how bad they believe the situation is.

The Stockholm branch of Föräldraalliansen will meet with the Chairwoman of Stockholm Council’s School and Education Division in March to continue the discussions.
