Swedish-Norwegian Bid for Euro 2016

Published fredag 27 februari 2009 kl 11.08

Sweden and Norway are jointly applying to host the 2016 European soccer football championships.

The two countries say if they get to hold Euro 2016, they would divide the matches roughly equally between themselves but have not yet chosen the host cities.

Both nations have plans to build new national arenas and need several bigger stadiums to host a European championship with 24 countries taking part.

Sweden will be hosting this year’s under 21 European soccer championships.
