Government Reveals New Logo
On Monday the government revealed the new logo for the Swedish EU Presidency. The design will be visible everywhere as Sweden takes on the lead during the second half of 2009.
The design – a blue and yellow circle with white light coming from above, looks very different from the latest one from 2001. Cecilia Malmström, Minister for Europe, explained that light had been central to the design, symbolizing openness.
“We don’t want to keep anything in the dark,” Malmström told Swedish Radio news.
The logo functions almost like a brand for the country that holds the presidency and has cost Sweden approximately 140 000 US Dollars.
