Last Day of the Pirate Bay Trial

Published tisdag 3 mars 2009 kl 13.23
The Pirate Bay Trial

The Pirate Bay is legal, according to defence lawyer Jonas Nilsson, as the trial went into its final day Tuesday. In his concluding statements he claimed ” It is an Internet problem - not a Pirate Bay problem”.

Nilsson stressed that anyone can upload material to the controversial website. The fact that some of the files might be copyright protected is a problem which all service providers on the Internet face today, he added.

Nilsson also said that the prosecution has failed to prove any of its claims. Fellow defence lawyer Ola Salomonsson, said that he had never before experienced a case where the prosecution was this unable to give a proper account of the damage done to the plaintiff, having even failed to prove that the media giants have lost money because of the site.

The verdict will be in on April 17th.
