Sweden’s Car Industry: Close To The End?

Fewer buyers in sight..

Sweden isn’t one of the biggest countries in the world, population-wise, but it has long had a sizable car industry.

All this may be about to change, as the future for the US-owned Volvo and Saab car manufacturers is uncertain. But how did it come about that this small northern nation developed such a large industry based on vehicle production?

Loukas Christodoulou spoke to Martin Sköld, a Professor at the Stockholm School of Economics, and Marianne Sterner, Senior Editor of Vi Bilägare, one of Scandinavia’s biggest car magazines.
