Former Bodyguard Sues Swedish State

Published torsdag 5 mars 2009 kl 14.00

One of Swedish foreign minister Carl Bildt’s former bodyguards is taking legal actionagainst the state with the help of the Police Union.

The bodyguard found herself in a scrap at Heathrow Airport in 2007 after using obscene language to a security guard . Together with her colleague she was not allowed on the plane, forcing the Foreign minister to travel home unprotected, according to Swedish newspaper Expressen. She was later transferred.

Following the internal investigations the bodyguard did not return to active duty.  The union claims that it was wrong to transfer her and that the Swedish Police Security Services are guilty of illicit disciplinary measures, according to Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter.
