Affirmative Action for the Moderate Party

Published fredag 6 mars 2009 kl 14.11
Party Secretary Per Schlingmann

Half of all Moderate Party candidates for the 2010 election will be women. And 20 % will be newcomers to politics, according to Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet.

Party Secretary Per Schlingmann told the newspaper that the decision was taken at the last party conference and that the aim is to achieve a better gender balance within the party.

Schlingmann also believes that this will open up for debate regarding affirmative action within all the government parties.

The Social Democrats introduced a similar system in 1994.
