Swedish Consortium to Bid for Volvo?

Published tisdag 10 mars 2009 kl 11.03

A group of Swedish investors may make a bid for Volvo Cars. Britain’s Financial Times reported Monday on rumours regarding the sale of the car giant.

In the article the Financial Times refers to three anonymous sources said to be involved in, or at least informed about, the negotiations.

According to the Financial Times, prospective buyers have been courted for the last month in London. Although speculations are still rife regarding a sale to China, the latest industry gossip claims that a consortium from within the Swedish motor industry is interested in the sale.

The reason behind the potential Swedish bid is the supposed worry about a “possible leakage of intellectual property to China”.
