Air Travel Close to Swedes’ Hearts

Published torsdag 12 mars 2009 kl 17.11

Swedes worry about the climate and are willing to live environment friendly – as long as they don’t have to cut down on air travel.

In a survey carried out by travel agent Ticket, 62 % of the 4500 participants answered that their travelling habits will not be affected at all by the current climate and environmental debate.  Only 9% said that they consciously travel less because of global warming – although 29 % were willing to pay an extra environmental fee when they travel.

Jessica Cederberg Wodmar, an environmental expert at the Swedish Environmental protection Agency, is not surprised by these figures.

“We see that people are willing to make many changes to their lifestyle – but air travel is one of the few things they don’t want to go without,” she told Swedish news agency TT.
