H&M Opened in Moscow
Swedish clothes giant H&M opened its Russian flagship store in Moscow on Friday. After expanding in the US and in Asia – it was now Russia’s turn.
Opening a new store in the middle of the recession apparently did not daunt H&M, and the company is currently planning to open two more shops in Moscow within the near future and another in St Petersburg next year.
As H&M owner Stefan Persson rose from number 35 to number 18 on the Forbes list of the worlds richest people this year, perhaps he can afford the venture.
The logo looks the same in the Moscow store- despite the fact that the cyrillic alphabet does not contain the roman letter ”H”. Instead, to the Russians the logo reads ”NM”.
However, considering the queues outside the shop before the doors were even opened, it does not seem that any of the customers had problems understanding the sign.
