Swedes At Risk From Noise

Published fredag 13 mars 2009 kl 16.15

Rising levels of noise could be undermining Swedish Health. According to Swedish news paper Svenska Dagbladet, one in three Swedes is subjected to levels of noise - for example in the work place- which could be hazardous to their health.

A report from the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare for 2009 shows that 800, 000 people in this country are regularly subjected to road traffic noise. This is an increase of 200, 000 in ten years.

Both Swedish and International studies have previously shown a connection between noise and illnesses like heart disease and stroke.
