Support for Sweden’s prime minister Fredrik Reinfeldt is at a record high according to pollsters Synovate.

The poll taken on behalf on the Dagens Nyheter newspaper, suggests that the Prime Minister and Moderate Party leader enjoys 52 percent confidence approval ratings from the public, up more than ten percent in a year.

Support for Sweden’s prime minister Fredrik Reinfeldt is at a record high according to pollsters Synovate.

In contrast, approval for the leader of the opposition Social Democrats, Mona Sahlin, is falling, down to 30 percent, from 38 percent last year.

The two party leaders clashed in a television debate on public service broadcaster SVT on Tuesday night.

The Synovate poll, which interviewed a little over a thousand people between March 10th and 16th, also showed that support for another member of the coalition government, Centre Party leader and energy and enterprise minister Maud Olofsson, had surpassed that of Mona Sahlin at 33 percent.
