Women in Sweden Having More Babies

Published fredag 20 mars 2009 kl 12.13

New statistics show that women here in Sweden are having more babies - with the average of 1.9 each last year.

This is the biggest increase in this Nordic nation in the last 15 years.

At the same time, despite all the warnings of an unhealthy population gaining too much weight, eating too much junk food, and getting too little exercise, the life length of girls born last year is expected to reach 83 . For boys, it’s 79.

This is about a quarter of a century longer than for those born at the beginning of the last century.
