Spring Budget to Emphasize Jobs
News reports maintain that the Swedish center-right government’s supplementary spring budget will give major emphasis to creating new jobs in the face of the growing number of redundancies and the continuing sluggish economy.
137,000 people are expected to be involved in government-supported job programs and training this year - compared to only 85,000 last year. One of the main targets is the young where unemployment is highest.
The budget is to be presented to the parliament tomorrow morning - and is expected to be sharply criticized by the opposition for doing too little when the unemployment level here is predicted to climb to a painful 12%.
