Local Produce Under Attack
Alarm bells are ringing for Swedish farmers, as the yearly ’agriculture barometer’ shows they have had a very tough year.
According to the Federation of Swedish Farmers only 30% of them say they are making good money, down by half from last year.
The biggest fall is for those who keep cattle but also for arable farming too. The head of the farmers’ federation, Lars Göran Pettersson, says that the reasons for the fall are that products like beef and milk are now affected much more directly by changes in the international markets.
