HMS Malmö sets sail

Swedish Marines helping patrol the pirate-infested Somalian coast have captured 7 pirates after shooting artillery shells and rifle bullets to stop a raid on a Greek freighter calling for help.

The commander of the HMS Malmö –one of the 2 Swedish corvettes in the operation –says they also used a sound warning system to scare off the pirates and flares to help document the attack.

One of the two pirate boats managed to escape in the dark.

The captured pirates are to be brought to Kenya for trial - according to the agreement between the European Union and that African nation.
